Community insights
Bridgewater Retirement Community is not just a place to live—it’s an environment to thrive. Known for its welcoming spirit of community, BRC is home to more than 560 residents who enjoy life together and engage in shared interests.
As a Life Plan Community, BRC offers every level of living from fully Independent Living to Assisted Living, Memory Support, and Nursing Households. As a nonprofit, it is mission driven and fully committed to being truly person-centered. And as a proponent of living well no matter what your age, it works to live up to its motto, “energy for life,” every day.
Most residents join through Independent Living, but BRC welcomes new residents at all levels of living.
BRC is within easy walking distance of restaurants, shopping, parks, a library, and a college. The surrounding Town of Bridgewater is a thriving small town in the heart of Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. The entire region is rich in culture and natural beauty. Harrisonburg, Staunton, and Shenandoah National Park are each a short drive away.
The 93-acre campus—beautifully landscaped and enticingly walkable—encompasses quiet neighborhood streets with cottages and duplexes, apartment buildings, congregate households, a chapel, walking trails, community gardens an outdoor pavilion, and more.
In addition to providing an exceptional physical environment designed to support healthy living, BRC asks what it means to truly live well as we age and then follows through with resources and support so that residents have every opportunity to live with vitality and make the most of every day. It regularly earns top rankings from local, statewide, and national organizations.
BRC welcomes residents and team members from all walks of life and will never exclude or treat anyone differently because of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, familial status, military status, or disability.
